I'm not sure what is going on but I purchased a number of episodes of a tv show and its taking forever to download.

I'm not noticing any slowdowns on my internet connection. I tried rebooting. Not sure what's going on, its taking between 40 and 60 minutes to download one 500gig episode. Is that normal? I don't usually purchased any tv shows so I don't have too much experience to draw from.

How long do movies take for you guys. I'm going on a business trip next week and I want to rent some movies. btw, I'm on DSL and the overall speed has been satisfactory. I'm not sure if this is a DSL issue, normal download performance or some other problem.

yes half a gig or 500mb verizon dsl. I don't recall downloading a movie being so slow. Overall speed with the isp seems very good. Just that it seemed like the d/l of these shows seemed inordinately slow. Of course I don't usually buy too many shows or movies, so its something I may not have noticed before.

Sorry, should have also asked - how fast is your connection (theoretically)?

My math is rusty but a 500meg file is about 4096000 kilobits and if the download speed is around 2838 kb/s that should equate into 1443 seconds or 24 minutes. Where as I was incurring nearly double that, i.e., 40 minutes

Yeah, that's my thinking. I'm flying out on a business trip shortly, so I'm trying to fill up my itunes with movies and/or tv shows, so the flight won't be crushingly boring. That said, I'll rent/buy another movie tonight and see if the download speed is the same or better.

From my experience with itunes it is more likely a slowdown with your ISP than with itunes. I always get over 1mb/s when I download tv shows. I just wish comcast/IO was more reliable.
