I hate to post what might be a basic question, but I searched online and on the forums here and figured I would just take the plunge and ask.

I use Apple Mail with the Leopard OSX and it seems that under preferences you can set certain fonts for mail defaults, but I can't seem to figure out how to set a default font and color for when I compose or reply to messages. Perhaps it can't be done other than typing out your text, highlighting and then changing the font type, color and size. The signature feature seems pretty generic as well. I can't believe there isn't any editing options for color or size of your signature, other than matching the default incoming message size. Am I missing something?

The Message Font setting is the one for composing messages. However, it doesn't seem like you can change the color. You can select a color in the Font window's Color picker, but it doesn't seem to be applied.

You can make your signatures any font or color you want. Select your signature text in the Preferences window and then choose Show Fonts and/or Show Colors from the Format menu.

Egads, I am an idiot! Thanks! It didn't seem like the Message Font was doing anything, but I had to jump it up in size more than I did to notice. Must have been too long of a day. Guess I need to change the color each time I send a message if I want to do that. Thanks! Guess I didn't play around with it enough! I may delete this thread. Waste of space for such a simple thing.
