Has anyone experienced a similar problem. I have a dual 2GHz G5 with 1.5 GB Ram running 10.5.2. I installed Office 2008 and kept my original Office x on the machine. There are no trial versions floating around.
And what I find is that any sort of cutting and pasting into Word 2008 causes it to crash. Pasting from Excel 2008 or even from within the SAME Word 2008 document causes an instant crash. Even when it is the only program opened.
I phoned Microsoft in the US and they said it was a known problem !!!!!!!!!
But they also said I had to phone microsoft support nearer where I live in Switzerland, and there they implied it could just be a "funny" copy.
As it was essentially unusable as a word processor, I uninstalled it. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling Office v.X and all of its stuff (folders, pref files, caches, etc.)? Also try, in the same effort, deleting all Office 2008 caches, .plist files, and others (or run the uninstaller). Then start fresh by reinstalling Office 2008 to see if that fixes your issues.

I've made this a new thread, spinning your issue off from the Official Office 2008 Thread. It's getting long in the tooth in terms of addressing and troubleshooting members' specific issues.

I am also experiencing the exact same problem: copy-paste between applications as well as within Word 2008 gives me the "bath ball" running until I force quit the application. Upon relauncing the program it sometimes gives me the recovery copy of the file, but sometimes it starts up with an empty document.
(Additionally, although not connected to the Word copy/paste problem, Entourage gave me a big "sacre" on updateing from Office 2004, saying that there were no Entourage account to import to the new version. I had drag Office 2004 back from trash to manually export the e-mail account with mailboxes before importing them in Entourage 2008. It then worked out except that it did not recognize my E-mail groups).

In terms of stability, I've had better luck when the files are saved as the 2008 format (e.g., docx). I'll do a 'save as...', then work from that document.
Give it a shot and see if it helps -- save both the Excel and Word documents in the 2008 format.
