Use VLC and that should be able to play your .wmv files. Also there's Flip4Mac and I've come across a few .wmv that I could open with Perian & Quicktime combo.

Go to Flip4Mac - Digital Media Tools for the Mac and download (free) vers 2.2 I had vers 2.1 and it worked fine - just updated this weekend. Brief install after download.

While you're at it get Perian to play everything else too.

All good advise...Flip4Mac is the primary plug in, BUT, if you run into and DRM protected content, it won't play. That's 'digital rights management'...

Well, there is no way at all to play DRM WMA content on your Apple Macintosh. Sorry.
