I'm running 10.3.9 on a 15" Powerbook. Firefox version 2.0.0.12

I use Safari for the most part and the user interface and scrolling experience is just perfect. However there are times when I need to use Firefox and I can't stand the "freewheeling" scrolling action. This is driving me crazy.

In Safari, when I two-finger scroll to move down a long page, the page and the touch of the trackpad are in sync. When I lift my fingers off the trackpad, the page stops scrolling immediately.

In Firefox, when I touch the trackpad, scroll down, and then lift my fingers off the trackpad, the page keeps moving for about an extra inch or two or more. (It's the same when up-scrolling, as well.) It's probably intentionally designed that way to give it a more realistic feel, but I want to turn it off. Is there some way to make the scrolling experience the same as in Safari?

I want the page to stop moving when I tell it to stop!

P.S. I've already tried going to Preferences>Advanced> and tried checking and un-checking "autoscrolling" and "smooth scrolling" and they don't seem to do anything. No matter what combination of scrolling options are checked, the problem is the same.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have SmartScroll installed?

Thanks for the replies.

I tried re-installing and nothing has changed.

I don't know what SmartScroll is and I don't have it installed. Is that something that might be causing the problem or something that could fix it?

Also, does anyone else know what I'm talking about in regards to the scrolling action? Is this a Firefox "feature" or just some isolated bug on my end?

Thanks.
