I am starting to develop a website using CRE Loaded and the manual suggest that Beyond Compare, a code comparison program, is used. It is only available for Windows though. Is there a similar program for the Mac?

It looks like that's just a normal diff program. There are about 12,000 of them out there. You could use the standard Unix diff program from the command line, Apple's FileMerge, or any number of third-party solutions (VersionTracker is a good place to get started on that).
