Okay - So - I have a user who is using Entourage. The program is configured so that the email account password is hidden and email sends and receives without issue.
However, my user wants to password protect the Entourage application so that no one can access it but her. She does not want to alter her email account password.
Is there a way to password protect the Entourage application without changing her email account password? If so, how?
I'm generally a PC support rep so the world of MAC is new to me. Apologies if this is a redundant, newbie question.

Nice of you to make an effort to help your coworker. She should rely on her OS X account password - show her how to go back to the login window if the computer isn't in use (you may need to enable Fast User Switching in the Accounts pane of System Preferences if it isn't already enabled), and set the screen saver to return to the login window. Also, you'll run into the small quibble around here and elsewhere that it's "Mac" and not "MAC."

I don't have Entourage to have a suggestion for that application, but the best way to protect the computer while she's away is to set a password to the screensaver and enable a hot-corner. She'd just turn on the screensaver whenever she leaves her computer unattended.
To set the Screen Saver in OS X, open up the System Preferences. There should be an option for Desktop & Screensaver.
I think it's good advice in general whether you're using a Mac or a PC.
Also, Administrator in OS X is not like Administrator in Windows. In OS X, users can only view their own files and no one else's, even if they're an Administrator. The only way to modify other users' files is to log in using the Root account. Root is more akin to Windows' Administrator account, however, it is disabled by default.

Oh, and if you wanna score points with Mac users, you'll want to spell it "Mac." It's just short for Macintosh and not an acronym like IBM. It's sort of a pet peeve with many Mac users.

Somehow we wound up with five copies of this thread. I've merged your post into this one.
