Howdy. Anyone using/have used PowerFolder for syncing two (or more) computers. I looked at FolderShare (MS product) but it only works when both computers are on. I want to have work and home computer sync certain files and they are are seldom if ever on at the same time. I tried dotmac iSync and it was not very smooth and not completely dependable. Sometimes it sync'd ... sometiimes not? Thanks for any thoughts on PowerFolder ... or other options if you are aware of any.

Well, by definition, syncing would mean that both are on.
What you are talking about is syncing with a remote server location, and have multiple computers do that.
I don't know of any *free* service that would do that. You would not only need the software, but also a host that provides the web space.
Also, keep in mind that syncing over the internet is going to be much slower than in a local network. Some of the "not completely dependable" issues with .Mac probably are just natural limitations of syncing over the internet.
To be honest, your best bet could be a stick drive with automatic sync software that syncs certain folders upon connecting it.

Thanks for the info. As of now I just keep the files I would like sync'd on a USB drive and write directly to it. What you describe would be better I think ... as long as I don't work on a file at home, then work on it at work ... without doing a sync of the USB drive What apps should I consider for the automatic sync software? Thanks again for the reply.

My first thought is that it's an interesting looking backup program... and,
I only wonder why it has no listing at either VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
[or both]
