I am producing a Public Access TV program for Verizon which requires program to be submitted on VHS tape. I have burned a DVD of my movie and copied it to VHS with inferior results. Can I somehow go directly from imovie 08 to VHS? OR Perhaps from imovie to my camera (Mini DV) to VHS?

Wouldn't that solely depend on the kind of VCR you have ?
What connections does it offer ? THAT's the limiting factor.

I think you probably should look for a professional service that does that kind of thing.

Wow. I'm astonished that a TV station would want VHS over DVD.

FYI
These TV stations are required to have these FREE public access channels THEREFORE they seem to relegate all their antiquated equipment to these stations. VHS=rediculous

If you have a Mac with a DVI port, you can get the Apple DVI to Video Adapter and hook it up to the VCR using composite or S-Video.

The Apple Store (U.S.) - Apple DVI to Video Adapter

If you have a Mac with a mini-DVI port instead of a DVI port, you'll need the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter instead.

The only problem is that these adapters only do video, not sound. To connect the sound, you could get a cable with a stereo plug on one end and composite plugs on the other end, and put it in the Mac's headphone port. The quality would probably not be great doing this, though, and if you wanted the sound to be a higher quality, you'd probably want to go with some sort of USB sound card to get some proper composite audio out ports. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the best one of those to get would be, but perhaps someone like analogika will show up and chime in on the subject.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
