I just installed two new iMacs at a retirement home. These are shared by many residents. Firefox is set to open with a homepage of Lycos mail. One resident has put in her username and password and "remember me." Now, every time Firefox starts up, there is Lycos mail with her name and password already entered.
How can I undo the "remember me"?

Tools menu > Clear Private Data... > then make sure these are checked:
- Cookies
- Saved Passwords
- Authenticated Settings

Click 'Clear Private Data' and you should be good to go.

Then put the browser in Grandmother mode.

Cold Warrior's solution worked like a charm. Many thanks.

Big Mac, I'm still looking for the Grandmother mode button. I wish there were such a thing. Seniors with too much time on their hands are worse than middle school children at finding ways to foul things up.

Go to the preference menu and then the security section and then uncheck remember passwords and use master password. If you really want to make sure they are safe then also go to the privacy section and check always clear my private data when closing Firefox.

It's good to uncheck the remember passwords because if they don't close Firefox then someone else can log in. The clear private data feature is only good if you close Firefox or manually do it but I doubt your Grandmother will do it manually everytime.
