Is there anything you can do?

Here's my problem: I have an old, old copy of Fireworks MX that I use with my equally old copy of Flash MX. For what little I do, there's no need to spend the big upgrade, or so I thought.

Now, Fireworks won't run in Leopard. After I upgraded, I opened the program. It seems fine but then after a few seconds it freezes up--invariably.

So is there anything that can be done in a case like this? Anyway to change the way Leopard behaves to fool an older program, even if there's a performance degredation?

Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible. A significant amount changed under the hood with Leopard, thus breaking some apps. You could keep a Tiger partition around and boot back into it, but that's not something I'd really want to do. Or you could run the Windows version in a virtualization setup.

If it's a Universal application, try forcing it to run under Rosetta. If it's PPC-only now anyway, you're SOL.
