What would you rather have for the "average" consumer. Lets take in three things.

1. How much space its takes up on the hard drive.
2. Which is easier to use.
3. Which is better.

What is Reader Pro CS3? Never heard of it.

If you're talking reading PDFs, then the average user needs Adobe Reader, because there are some forms that Preview doesn't handle well. I use Preview for what I can - forms, viewing, combining pages - but often use Reader for forms and saving PDF forms (when permitted).

1. Preview would use less space
2. Both are easy to use
3. Depends on the consumer's needs

I generally use Preview. I don't deal with a lot of PDF forms, and I like it better than Reader for normal PDFs.

I haven't had Adobe Reader on my Macs for a couple of years now. Haven't come across any PDFs that Preview can't handle.

The average user doesn't do forms, so no, the average user doesn't need Adobe Reader.

If would have installed Adobe Reader just in case, but I hate the crap Adobe litters all over the place on my computer (an extra unnecessary help viewer, half a dozen "update" programs in the utilities folder, …)
