I'm getting a new hard drive installed after the stock 40Gb unit in my iBook failed last week. The machine specs will be:

1.33Ghz
1.5Gb RAM
120Gb 5400rpm drive
Leopard 10.5.2

I have a copy of CS2 through a site license at my undergrad university but can also get CS3 through a similar agreement where I'm currently at grad school. Is it worth upgrading? Will there be a noticeable performance hit between the two?

My use of the programs will mostly be:
Ps: photography post-processing
Ai: Misc. graphics design (t-shirts, flyers, etc).
Id: layout work for our program's academic journal.

I'm not an expert with these programs by any means. I probably haven't even mastered all of the important features with CS2 yet.

Since CS2 isn't fully compatible with Leopard (10.5), CS3 is your only option.

Simple.

CS2 feels slower than CS3 on my 1,25 GHz Power Mac G4, but you better use an external display (which I presume you already do) since there are palettes all over the place.

Thanks for the replies.

And yes, if I'm doing design work, I'll be at home on a dual screen setup with the iBook and an external screen.
