I posted awhile back in the networking section stating that there were some problems arising with web surfing, saying to some sites "safari cannot connect to server," while on the same network using another mac with the same software works on these sites.

Since then, I've noticed other things on my computer starting to malfunction that are not related to networking, however I'm curious if they could be somehow connected? For instance, I have disappearing indicators. I have been without my battery indicator for quite some time now, and my scroll gets stuck sometimes (like when I'm scrolling through iPhoto pictures, it just starts scrolling really fast through all the pictures even though I'm not touching anything! Furthermore, iPhoto no longer syncs with my camera. I can say "upload photos" and "don't import existing photos" and when I do this, it will remain on the import screen saying like 0 out of 176 items imported and it won't actually ever import anything! However, if I don't click "don't import existing" and I just import all of my pictures all over again, it will import just fine. I'm very confused as to why I'm starting to have all of these problems.

I bought this computer because I didn't want to have something that was going to crash on me and make me lose all of my school work, but I'm not too sure that my stuff is going to stay safe... Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks!

What version of OS X is it running?

What model Mac with what specs/RAM/hard drive and HD free space?

Did you buy it used or new?

My system is currently running all of the latest updated software, but when I went to click "about this mac," of course it decided not to pop up lol. I have OS X Tiger, so would the latest edition be 10.4.6? I think...

Anyway, I bought my computer new in June 2007, and it has been working well up until this point! And I did some poking around and found out that I was just being stupid when I said the battery meter disappeared. Somehow it got turned off in the system preferences.. I don't know how that happened, but hey weird things happen sometimes. I'm still having problems with some of my programs however, such as iphoto (iLife 07, later edition?) not syncing with my camera, skipping photos, and my browser not being able to open up some websites (although this might be a networking problem?)

Also I have a Macbook Intel core 2 duo 2.2 with 1 GB ram and a 120GB HD with 35 GB's free (other space partitioned for windows, which I NEVER use)

The latest version is OS X 10.4.11. However, since you're having so many issues, I suggest an archive-install.

More about archive install in 10.4
