so i reformatted my computer and didnt back up my address book. however all my contacts are synced to my .mac account. is there a way to get them back to my address book? i am also trying to do the same thing with my bookmarks which are on .mac also.

In the .Mac System Preferences choose to Reset the sync data on the computer and select .Mac as the source for the replacement (and not vice versa)!

Yes, as explained by JKT. I just sold my iMac and replaced it with a MBP. Synced everything to .mac, then downloaded it to the MBP. Total time spent, about ten minutes. Personal data saved, 100%.
