iMovie clip

I'm trying to copy and drag an edited clip into a powerpoint presentation. The video clip plays fine but it's the unedited version. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix this? I even saved the clip to the desktop and that one was also the unedited version.

Where are you trying to drag it from exactly?
How did you "save the clip to the desktop"?

I originally had the iMovie open and the powerpoint open then just dragged it onto a blank side. The powerpoint would ask if I want it played automatically or with click. It plays fine but it is the unedited long version.
Same thing to save it to the desktop, I just dragged it. If I right clicked on copy then tried to right click on paste, the "paste" was grayed out and wasn't an option.

*what* exactly was "it" that you dragged into the Powerpoint slide?
In any case:
Export the finished movie onto your hard drive. If you export it it, it will actually be rendered into a complete movie. Drag *that* into Powerpoint.
I'm also pretty sure that if you were using Keynote instead of Powerpoint (an option *REALLY* worth considering if you don't have to collaborate with other Powerpoint users), you could just drag the iMovie file from the Finder into the slide (at least with iMovie '08).

I have keynote and don't use it because you can only have one sound track play...for a long slide show, I like to fade in different songs...unless I'm mistaken?

I did what you suggested, made a "movie" of just the specific clip I wanted, exported it and then inserted it into the powerpoint. It worked! Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, duh.
The unedited clips in iMovie (HD) are the unedited clips. Like, um.
They don't get edited until you actually drag them down onto the timeline, cut them, add transitions etc, and then have them rendered for export.
And even then, the original clips are never touched. All editing is non-destructive.
Glad it worked, though.
