Acrylic | Times

I love this app. Really pretty, forced me to shrink the amount of RSS feeds I have (good thing)
But ...
* Expensive -- $30 for an RSS reader? David Watanabe?!
* Unstable -- crashed four times for me
* Some feeds don't work ...
* Unable to customize views (I'd like three columns perhaps)

I just use google reader for RSS feeds. Simple, fast, global and it just works. Oh, and free.

For the record, Newsfire is now free, but the catch is that Dave's blog is hardcoded into the app and you can't remove the feed. I'd rather pay $30 for Times.

Less features than Google Reader, unclear if it has an offline reading mode, become cumbersome with lots of feeds, and you have to pay for it?

For the record I have Postino. Nice app, offline reading.
Backups are like guns and condoms. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I don't see why I'd want to reduce my number of feeds. I've subscribed for a reason. Each offers info from a specific site, and only about 2% of the information is overlap.

For the record, I use Vienna because it allows custom CSS. Not sure if the others do too.

The whole idea of using a newsreader for me is being able to subscribe to a truckload of feeds and quickly filter through them to find the interesting bits. If I don't have many feeds, there's not much point in buying a newsreader.
