In the main work window, I have every toolbar minimized to show at least as possible. However the elements gallery still shows up to at least show text buttons for "Documents Elements .. etc etc" I was wondering if there is any way for me to remove that toolbar in general?

I'm afraid I have no idea, but I can understand exactly why you'd want to.

It's so typical of Microsoft to make sure the first two hours with a new version are spent trying desperately to make it look and work like the OLD version.

Not sure I understand (often the case), but FWIW, I can make my Gallery appear/disappear by clicking (once) on the Gallery icon at the top of the page.

Also, in Word/Preferences/Gallery pane, ensure "Open Elements Gallery when application launches" is not checked.
