Hello people I have breifly worked with Mac's before and think they are quite good at what they do but not value for money, which is why I'm not a Mac user. That and 3D apps are not really best run on Mac's, at leat the mouses now have 3 buttons.

Any way Like I say I'm not a mac person but my girlfriend is and so I have to do things for her just cus she dose not really like the technical side of things.

Now taht I have given you my whole life story and every opinon I have lol, here is the question. we have some .dmg files but she/me are not sure, what to do with them. from the little I have managed to find on the net they look like they are the PC equivilant of .ISO files??

If you are not PC user a .iso file is basicaly just a disk img taht allows you to burn a bootable or CD/DVD, good if like me U know your disks are going to go missing at some point or just scratched beyond understanding.

Any way many thanks for your help in advance :-)

Yeah, they correspond to ISOs on Windows, except better. They're also the usual format for the distribution of software downloaded online. You mount the .dmg (if it's not currently mounted), open the resulting disk image, and in the case of an application usually you drag it to the Applications folder or another folder of your choosing in order to use it. After it's copied you can eject the disk image and throw away the .dmg, or you may save it in case you want to save a copy of the original files it contains.

You don't have to mount/burn it on a disk. It does so on the desktop.
I'm on MacNN forums, but no longer have a Mac...

Just double click on the IMG file, and it will automagically mount and open a windows showing the content.
