I reinstalled iLife '08 from my OSX Disc 2 and now Mail is not opening, I just get an automatic "application Mail quit unexpectedly" right after I click the icon.

Corrupted preferences files maybe ? Try deleting plists.
Or corrupted permissions. Could try Repair Permissions.
And always reboot.

As with any problem like this, it is worth seeing if this problem happens for another user on your computer (if you don't have another user, make one) to see if the problem is within your home folder (e.g. the application preferences therein) or outside your home folder (some sort of problem with the application itself). The former is more likely but it helps identify the problem.

Mail has the built in ability to get photos and such from iLife (which means that it at least links in some iLife framework), so I'm assuming that you're going to need to upgrade to the latest iLife update (Run Software Update until it can run no more.)

Maybe you'll need to re-install the 10.5.2 combo update.

Can you go to /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and start it up, then go to the File Menu -> Open Quickly -> LOG FILES -> ~/Library/Logs -> CrashReporter

and then open the latest Mail crash log and post it here? (They're listed with the date in the title, so just find the newest).

Alright, so we know the problem now. Lets start narrowing it down.

Does
"/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GraphicsAppSupport.framework/"
exist?

iPhoto has some support installations that may not have been installed, you should probably reinstall and make sure it all gets installed...
