What format do I need to convert .vob files to in order to edit some home movies in imovie? Is there a good application for this that keeps the audio and video files together?

I don't know if this is the best tool out there, but I've used MPEG Streamclip in the past. FFMpeg/FFMpegX should also convert mpeg2 (.vob) to DV (.dv) for iMovie.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give Handbrake a try. I hope it can handle my files, as one of the reasons I bought a MBP was to finally edit these movies into a more professional presentation and burn copies.

I use a combination of Apple's QuickTime MPEG2 plugin and MPEGStreamClip to open VOBs in MPEGStreamClip and then export them to QuickTime.
