Hi,

Yesterday I posted help for a problem with downloading Pocket Mac 4.0 and was advised to uninstall. Well I didn't get around to doing that, but was instead checking for updated printer drivers. (I'm in the process of getting my new Macbook up and going.)

So while getting the latest driver a software update window came down and I
clicked update which loaded and then I restarted my Macbook. But it didn't start in the usual way. Instead the screen had the colorful image that comes with computer before you put your own desktop image on and another window came on stating the "package" was being installed and took about five minutes to load.

Then everything resumed as normal. Wondering if this also updated Pocket Mac, I opened it to check the version but it still said 1.0 (instead of 4.0 which supposedly downloaded successfully yesterday when I first started this journey.)

But I went ahead and plugged my Blackberry into the USB and viola! I had a connection. Then I pressed "sync" and it worked!

Kind of strange, but it's syncing now. I'm wondering if I should even both trying to install Pocket Mac 4.0 or just leave well enough alone.

Wanted to post in case this helps someone else.

I have never really used it but I have it installed since otherwise my Mac would even recognize the BlackBerry Pearl once attached to it. And yes, mine also says 1.0, weird, huh?

You had an Apple Software Update (Probably 10.5.3). This only deals with official Apple software and will not touch Pocket Mac. Sorry.

And I have to ask, did you restart after you installed Pocket Mac? Pocket Mac will install a kernel extension, so a restart would be required in order to add it to your system.
