Hi All,
I use .mac to sync iCal between my desktop machine (G5, OSX 10.4.11), and my laptop (OSX 10.5.3). Today, a sync message came up on my desktop machine: over 1000 entries ready to be sync'ed?? (and none to be deleted). It's like .mac has lost track of what's on the desktop machine, and is going to copy everything it's got in again.
I had something like this happen years ago with a Palm, and every calendar entry was duplicated. A massive pain in the *ss, and I'd hate for the same thing to happen to my iCal calendars (it'd mess up my iPhone too).
I've been canceling the sync until I could get a few clues here, can anyone comment knowledgeably?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Chas

.mac has been goofy the past week or so, likely as part of the rebranding that is expected come Monday.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Goofy indeed. After about 20 attempts to get me to sync over 1000 added entries, it's just come up with a new dialog, telling me it needs to add only 53 entries (still way too many, as I've only made slight mods to my calendar on the laptop lately).
I'll wait a few more days, hopefully the "new and improved" process that .mac is going through will have been completed (though we're talking version 1.0 here, so we'll have to see :-)
Thanks for your reply, quite helpful (I hit some of the rumour sites to read about the rebranding).
Cheers!
Chas

What I would do is backup iCal (from the File menu) on all your Macs so that you have a current version you can revert to if you need to. Then, for the machine that is most up-to-date for iCal, go to the .Mac preferences in System Preferences. Click the Sync tab, then the Advanced... button. In the menu that drops down, showing you which computers are registered, click the Reset Sync Data... button. In the window that appears choose to replace the data on .Mac with that from your computer for iCal. Then on your other machines, repeat, but replace the data on the computers from .Mac.
