I have a small group of Macs (mixed Intel & PPC) that need to share our contact manager and calendar programs. We have been using Now Up To Date and Contact for many years, with one of the users computers doing dual duty as the server.
As our database has grown quite large, Now Contact has shown it's frailty. We've had many, many problems causing lost data and frustration. Now Contact was designed for System 7 or 8, and it shows it's age. It is in need of a complete re-write. I was excited to hear in January of 2007 that a complete re-write was coming. But, a year and a half later, it's vaporware.
I want to switch to a more robust, reliable, and modern contact manager that can be shared on multiple computers. One of the things I like about Now Contact is that the server runs in the background on a user's computer, and doesn't require a dedicated computer. If necessary, we could set up a new computer as a dedicated server, but I'd rather not.
So, what is the best Contact Manager and Calendar Application for Mac OS X that would satisfy the needs of a small group?
