When i launch Apple's Mail program, some of my inbox messages are showing up in the Outbox. Also, new folders have been created such as "Drafts .Mac".

Anyone else having their Mail acting funny?

Strange I don't see that everything' normal no "Drafts folder" in Mail app? I'll check out .Mac now yep Drafts is their but that's normal it should be there in .Mac!
When you send or create letters or anything else it goes there, unless you specify another folder or not to save documents.

Has for you messages showing up in outbox? I only & have only ever seen Inbox.

Yeah, the biggest problem i'm having is that messages are showing up in the Outbox. Even after i delete them the # is still showing 1 message and then a new message is popping in there. I've tried deleting my .Mac account and then re-creating it...but nothing is working. Started happening on the iPhone announcement date.

Try deleting them from the .Mac webmail interface.

Another thing you might want to try is going to .Mac clicking on Mail>Preferences "rightside" also open your Mail-app>Preferences make sure their both set-up the same.

Hope this helps, right now can't think of anything else.

I noticed a couple of days ago a few bugs cropped in on webpage i.e. scroll-bars missing, the worst one was log out was gone only login was visible! No bugs to messages or folders.

My .Mac mail has been deleted after one month for years, even though I have it set to never delete it. No one seems to know why. I even deleted all my Mail accounts, made new ones, REINSTALLED OS X, combed all possible .Mac online account settings. If Mail is set to store my messages online on .Mac and set to never delete them—you know, so I can conveniently check this mail from anywhere if I need to—it'll still be deleted after a month. Never fails. Or rather—ALWAYS FAILS.

Mindfad: are these messages missing in another client? If so, there is no amount of reinstalling or fiddling with OS X Mail that will help. If you have no server/client rules setup, you'll need to contact Apple about this - it sounds account specific.

Does it do the same thing within another OS X account? Within another client?

Went to .Mac and everything is setup correctly.

Maybe this will help. I all of a sudden have a folder called "Apple Mail To Do" on my iPhone. Where did that come from?

Update: I went ahead and just deleted all the preference files associated with Mail. I did this because nothing else was working.

When Mail loaded for the first time, i got this strange message saying "the folder called Outbox which shows outgoing messages has been renamed to Delivered".

I deleted the folder Delivered and it hasn't come back YET. So far, so good.

Anyone familiar with this change in names of folders?

AppleGirl: you can use any folder you wish as your Drafts, Outbox, Junk, Sent, etc. The various email accounts you own will suggest defaults, but you aren't obliged to use them. I wouldn't get too thrown about what folders you see, if you don't want to use a particular folder, designate a replacement and then delete the old one.

Ok, my initial problem is fixed. The OUTGOING mailbox is gone.

One more question. When i open up Mail, i see the following:

MAILBOXES
Inbox
Sent
Trash

AppleGirl's .Mac
Deleted Messages (Folder)
Sent Messages (Folder)

I won't want to see the AppleGirl's .Mac Section.
I keep deleting the folder called "Deleted Messages & Sent Messages, but they keep coming back.

How do i get rid of this Apple GIrl Section and it's folders???

You can't delete it. It's supposed to be there. Those are part of your AppleGirl email account.

lol This is meant to be a good thing, there is an arrow "triangle" next to your account name if you click it it will
collapse all folders so you wont see them... but that's it I'm afraid.

Sure you can delete them, by designating another folder as your Deleted/Sent, and then deleting them. It's your client that is probably creating them since it needs them according to your config. Do these folders appear as regular folders, or do they have special icons?

AppleGirl's .Mac
Deleted Messages (Folder)--> Click on this icon. Go to Mailbox-->Use this mailbox for...and click on Trash. This will now be designated for Trash.
Sent Messages (Folder)--> Click on this icon. Go to Mailbox-->Use this mailbox for...and click on Sent. This will now be designated for Sent email.

By Mailbox, I meant the menubar item called Mailbox (unless you're not using Apple Mail).

64, i don't want to designate those folders. Rather, i want to delete them.

I only want to see:

Mailboxes
-Inbox
-Sent
-Trash

What i want deleted is:
-On My Mac
-Drafts

Also delete
AppleGirl .Mac
-Deleted Messages
-Sent Messages

How can i accomplish this?

AppleGirl: again, Mail will not let you delete folders that are designated for Trash/Sent/Junk, etc. Therefore, you need to designate another folder to use for these respective messages, and then you can delete the unwanted folder.

I'll hold off trying to do that! Since these are vital for your email account in .Mac & soon to be MobileMe for syncing
messages, drafts, notes etc: Also we just don't know what preferences set-up will be available in MobileMe & whether you will be able to simple hide, delete or other?
You may also want to provide feedback

I'm not having any noticeable issues with my .mac account. The email is working as I expect it too.
I have noticed some outages just before the announcement and just after but all in all I've not noticed any change in my email.

The change in ISP will not change the OS X client's behavior. There is nothing special about the drafts, sent, junk, etc. folders... These are just normal folders designated for these special duties. They can be easily recreated, altered, whatever, it's not a big deal.
