When launching Apple's Remote Desktop, i can see a computer listed in blue as "available". I can see that the current open application in use is Safari. But when i click to observe or control the computer the connection bar just keeps trying to load. I have 2 other computers that i can connect to successfully, so i know it works.

But this one computer is giving me mega trouble.
Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this, or what i can do to fix it.

Ports are open, Firewalls and setup. The fact that i can see the computer in the general status screen listed as available and can see the open application tells me it's working fine...but no dice.

help

The computers don't have the same .Mac account so share screen won't work.
These are remote computers that i manage for others.

You don't need .Mac to share screen, just need to be connected to the computer and they have screen sharing turned on in system preferences.

Define "remote".

Same LAN ?

One computer is in NY. The other computer is in Florida.
They are remote. Not same LAN.

Are these machines behind a router? Port forwarding on port 5900?

port forwarding is open. I can actually see the computer and see what Remote Desktop will tell me what program they are using on the remote computer...but i am unable to observe or control.

Try Screen Sharing app and enter the remotes computer's IP address.

You'll find the Screen Sharing app in /System/Library/CoreServices/

It's the same app that's being used to do the Screen Sharing on the LAN. It's more or less just a VNC client.
If this works, then something is wrong with ARD, not the port forwarding or your emote computer's VNC setup.

That's what I said, but much smarter.
Remote Desktop.app can be problematic.
