Is there an app that would modify the OSX trash can to show total size of files contained in it, and a rising "trash" that gives an indication of "fullness", depending on total capacity entered, user configurable. (ie 1gb, 10gb etc) ?
If not, could Apple please do this ?

There’s one app with a fullness indicator, but apparently, it’s buggy under Leopard: Bin-it 1.5.2 software download - Mac OS X - VersionTracker
I don’t think Apple are going to do this in the foreseeable future. IIRC, some people have been clamouring for this kind of thing ever since OS X came out, along with other Dock improvements, which also haven’t been implemented. For what it’s worth, the only way they could bring this kind of change to the Trash without it looking stupid and/or too busy would be to add something like Mail’s unread message counter it, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up on that one, either. The Trash isn’t an application, I think you’re just supposed to bin the useless stuff and forget about it.

Just annoys me a bit when Trash appears full, with one measly item in it !
