I'm pretty sure the answer is "no," but I wanted to try anyway. Because the word "pages" is so generic, I can't get anywhere with google on this question.

Is there a way to open a pages document in Windows?

I'm thinking about revamping the way I work now that the iDisk is going to be a little more robust and that .Mac--er, I mean "MobileMe" (horrible name) can work with Outlook. I want to be able to store everything in my iDisk, but I feel like I'd run into compatibility problems more frequently since I use Pages at home. My home projects and work projects are pretty clearly delineated right now, but once MobileMe rolls out, it may get blurrier. So I don't particularly want to switch to Office on my Macbook, but I can see situations arising where I didn't remember to export from Pages beforehand and want to get something from a file I worked on at home.

It doesn't need to be a terribly convenient solution, as it would only be every once in a while...anybody know of any way to open a Pages document on a PC?

Probably not

Obviously there are ways of exporting/saving documents IN pages as various compatible files

but an actual pages document...maybe some robust kind of text juicer would do it, but you'd lose formatting and everything fer sure

Also -- going back and forth between Office and pages does NOT work, it wreaks havoc on fonts, sizes, spacing, pretty much everything

But perhaps someone else will have a better answer that will enlighten us both...

I've had ZERO problems moving my files back and forth and I like Pages a lot now. It's formatting options are so much more intuitive. I know in theory you can do anything in Word you can do in pages, but in actual practice it's much easier to make a document pretty in Pages. I really hate Microsoft and don't particularly want to a) buy their product or b) put the filth on my Macbook.

However, the new MobileMe crosses a fine line into paradigm shift for me and I can see how using one Office suite is starting to make a lot of sense...UNLESS I can get a utility or something that will open Pages even on my PC at work.

Pages documents contain a preview PDF if you turn that feature on in the preferences. So you can at least view them on a Windows computer. No editing though.
