Can anyone recommend good zipping/unzipping programs that can create files which can be unzipped on both Mac and Windows platforms?
What I'm trying to do is upload a lot of images as one large file to my web host so that a client can download them all at once instead of one at a time. If there is a better way of doing this then please let me know. Thanks.

The Finder can create zip files. Just choose "Create Archive" in the File menu. It will sometimes produce an extra folder called "__MACOSX" when the files are unzipped on Windows, which is kind of odd but harmless.
There are also a bunch of other shareware and freeware programs that can create zips as well.

I do know there are a bunch of programs out there. I was hoping that someone could recommend ones they have personally used. Since these images are for a paying client I was hoping to use something that has been proven to work reliably. Thanks for the link though.

Create Archive in OS X. Works fine on Windows too.

The Finder. It always stumps me why people want third party apps where Mac OS X bundled apps work fine,.

It's a hangover from Windows, where you have to install something to get that sort of thing to work.

Well, in this case I didn't know that OS X had a zipping program. They also call it archiving instead of zipping.
I was also asking for recommendations from personal experience. If everyone says OS X's zipping program works fine without any problems on both Mac and PC then that's what I'll use. Just because it's bundled with OS X doesn't necessarily mean it's good...that's a lesson hangover from Windows.
I did try Yemuzip and it seems pretty good. It has an option to make PC zips which doesn't have all the Mac specific extras if you know for sure the files are for PC only.

Sadly, the Finder has issues with password protected zip files…
