Well, I am trying to further my education of cisco devices through obtaining a higher level cisco certification than what I already have. I went through some of the most typical mediums one would approach when performing a self study (i.e. library books, purchasing books, looking for content online). It turns out that there are some pretty good "e-books" out there that I can use for my test. I went for it and downloaded one, and found out that it is in a file format that I have never encountered before.

I downloaded the book and it came as a .chm. This apparently was a file format designed by Microsucks as a help file, and is based off of .html. Now knowing that it was a fruit of Microsucks labor, I was worried about finding support for this filetype on the mac.

Luckily, some caring individual created a program called Chmox. This allows me to read the file, but the book is rather lenghty, and unlike most mac programs, there is no search feature in sight.

So my question is,
does anyone know of a reader for .chm files that allows you to search through the files content?

Any help would be much appreciated.
-Andy

If nothing else, you can always try a:

strings /path/to/file.chm | grep "your search term"
