I am editing a video for someone and the voice over was submitted to me as a URL which takes me to a wav file posted online. When I first tried to save the voice over, a pop up box told me I was required to download (after paying $30 and having it shipped) Quick Time Pro 7 in order to download this file. Even with the standard Quick Time Player I can not download this file. Today I tried again to click on the file and NOTHING came up. Is there anyway to download this file?

You actually don't have to purchase QuickTime Pro to download movies from the web. Now that you have you could use the "Save as source..." command from the popup menu of the QuickTime plug-in.

An easier (and free) way would be to hold down the control key when clicking an URL in Safari and then select "Download Linked File" from the contextual menu. If you were given the URL directly to the wav then you can't do this obviously. In that case simply paste the URL into Downloads window of Safari (in the menu Window->Downloads).

Thanks for the reply. I tried "save as source" and the other save option. Every time a pop up box would come up telling me I needed to purchase Quick Time 7. I would select "not now" and I would only be back to square one. None of the other options got me anywhere. NOW- when I try to click on the page NOTHING happens. No save as options- nothing.

If the file opens alone in a window, you can just use "File" --> "Save as…"

If not:

"Windows" menu --> "Activity"

open the disclosure triangles until you find the WAV file. Option(Alt)-doubleclick it to download.
