Hello all,

I've a friend who recently upgraded from a PowerBook G3 to a MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, he has a large number of files in Word 5.1 , Word 98, Excel 4.0 and Excel 98 format. Does anyone have experience converting large numbers of old documents to newer versions of Office? He has Office 2004 and at least for the Word 5.1/Excel 4.0 ones, the files display as gibberish. I would suggest trying Neo Office as it is free and might work. It has the benefit of handling many other formats as well. Even AppleWorks, if he transferred it, should be able to do the job. sam

NeoOffice is an interesting option, thanks. The problem is that these things often work fine for simpler documents, but break down for more complicated ones, so I'd prefer to stick to programs that people have used extensively for such conversions.

Another option is a dedicated format-converter. Does anybody have experience using MacLinkPlus for this sort of thing?
