With Safari, based on the search domain(s) entered in Network preferences, you can type in http://<server> and automatically go to http://<server>.<domain>.com. Is there any way for this to work in Firefox? I need this to automatically access sites in my company since some auto redirects do not append my company's domain name to the server name.
Thanks,
Steve

Change browser.fixup.alternate.suffix in about :config
Second hit on Google (third if you count this thread) for "firefox append search domain"

No, that's not what I want. I don't want to add just the .com, I need to add <domain>.com to the <server>.

You can change it to any arbitrary string you'd like: domain.com, .domain.com, .ibook.steve (hooray ICANN!)

What about other domains? What if I type in "macnn" and it tries to go to macnn.<domain>.com? Does it try just ".com" first before trying the whole domain name?

If you typed in just the prefix, what if that is "www"? There are a huge number of domains for that one. The automatic fill-in trick works only with domains.
