hi all. i have another thread asking a tm question, but figured i should start a new one for this issue.

i need some help! my tm restore is failing. after the hours long restore process it has failed 3 times in a row on what seems to be restoring a dvd rip of mine for my apple tv. i am getting a transfer error that says it is prevented from finishing. the two error notes i get are 1) some documents could not be transfered, and 2) my user could not be created. the document that could not be transfered seems to be the dvd.

this has happened 3 times now and it always seems to fail with this same error. this sucks! any ideas what is going wrong or what i should try now? i am worried that i have to setup my imac manually again which will be a total pain.

btw, background is that i am restoring my imac after it had a hdd replacement. the apple store put leopard on it and that is it. i use tm to fully backup my hdd and that is what i am restoring from.

thanks for your help!

dvd image? no. external hdd. migration assistant didn't work, so i booted from os x dvd and then used the restore utility (in the utilities menu). that got everything except my media which i did manually. for some reason it seems permissions on the movies dir is all messed up.

anyway, it all worked out fine in the end.
