So I've got this AVI movie. When I play it in QT/Perian, I can hear the audio but there is no video. The Inspector reports the format as H.264 (Perian), 256 x 224, Millions MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz. When I play it in VLC, it works perfectly. Why does that happen?

Perian isn't very good at supporting all the options (or even slight corruption) that VLC supports/will tolerate.
