I'm using OSX 10.5.4 and Office 2004. I recently upgraded Office and now have Word version 11.5.0 installed. For the life of me, I can't find the 'save' button that used to be found under the File menu. While Word may be saving automatically, I like to save manually and hear the reassuring ping as confirmation. Would someone put me straight, please?

I have had this for ages and never really bothered about it as I am a strictly keyboard kinda guy, so command-S does the trick. However, I was curious to solve it when I read your query, so got 'Save' back by going Tools...Customise...Toolbars.... and then moving the 'Save' button from the Commands list to the mini set of menu bars which Word presents just under the real menu bars.

It makes one wonder how that particular command got shifted OFF the File menu... But as long as you have your answer, I'm happy.

They're talking about the Save button in the toolbar, not the menu option in the File menu. At least, that's how I read it.

I'm not sure how it happens, but I've seen Save disappearing from copies of Word since Office v.X. There seems to be some fairly common way of triggering it. That or it's totally random.

I think it's fairly easy to drag it out accidentally.
