I am finding exporting my address book in Mozilla Thunderbird to Mail not as easy as I thought. Is there an easy way as I have looked through the Thunderbird forums and it seems quite difficult? It certainly isn't intuitive! Can't be that tedious, .... can it?

You don't.

You just IMPORT it within Mail.

File --> import mailboxes...

and then tell it Thunderbird.

Tried that but surely all that does is imports a mailbox and its contents, not address book.

However with a little advice I found it was quite simple. I achieved it by this route ...

Open Thunderbird, open thunderbird address book. Under tools choose export, export in Ldif to your desktop.
Open Apple address book (applications), look for import option, choose Ldif to import, point it to the thunderbird file.
The thing to remember is the Mail uses Address Book and iCal as opposed to being all integrated.

Success.
