I typically record shows but missed a really great episode of Jon Stewart. I can view it at:

but I cannot figure out how to save the file. The procedure for saving video from YouTube does not work. Is there another way?

You may be better off using Firefox 3 and one of the many addons they have. I did a search for 'streaming' and got these results from their site. YMMV based off of different keywords.

Digging through the source (and various files it points to), it seems it serves FLV files via RTMP. Don't know any apps for Mac that handles them, but there are a couple of Windows ones that claim to be able to save them, Replay Media Catcher and Orbit Downloader, gonna try them later and see if/how well they work.

You can use Safari. Open the activity window. Copy the url for the flv file and paste in the download window. Once it has downloaded, drag and drop it onto the Quicktime app.

Thanks for all the tips. I am familiar with monitoring the activity window and hunting for the flv
file and grabbing that. However, there are sites (such as the Daily show I reference above) that do
not throw up the flv file location in the activity window. For the show at:

I can track the flv file to a "rtmp" location at:

What is up with that? Does anybody know how to get at that file?

have you tried real player downloader? install realplayer, and open it. once opened, goto the window menu and click on real player downloader. keep that open and navigate to the video in your web browser. once it loads, go back to the downloader... it should be there, and click download.
