I keep seeing winmail.dat files when receiving emails from Microsoft Outlook. I've tried sending files while selecting Plain Text, Rich Text, and HTML.....but it happens on all three. Why can't Apple's Mail program read these attachments? What do you do to get around this issue? Do you find it as annoying as i do?

Outlook users should send emails as HTML or Plain Text, and _not_ as Rich Text. Then they won't send winmail.dat files.

Few things: Like i said in my post, I sent a file to myself using PlainText and it still created a .dat file!

Restoroot is only for 10.4 and below. Won't even install on my 10.5 machine.

Then you're doing it wrong.

It's an issue with how Outlook is sending the emails. This has nothing to do with Mail... you MUST fix it on the Outlook side.
