Photoshop CS3 has recently been unable to Save or Save As a file, Save for Web & Devices works, but with Save or Save As I get an instant beachball spinny wheel of death, and have to force quit. Any ideas what it might be? A week or so ago it was working fine, but now it won't play.

Try moving/deleting the preference file and see if that solves it.

I tried that with the plist file in user > library > preferences but that didn't do anything. There were a lot of other adobe and photoshop settings files in that folder though.

It now also beachballs on the File > Open menu, but opening a psd directly by the file icon works, tonight I've reinstalled Photoshop from the CS3 install disc, and it's made no difference. Short of a system reinstall, I'm stumped.

Weird, I noticed the beachball during my initial install, but it seems to have resolved itself.

After a google search I've managed to fix it, by turning off Version Cue. All is fine again now. Strange!
