Try this. Go to http://ricknash.com/home.html and leave it open in your browser. I tried it with both Safari and Firefox. Then open up another application and try to copy and paste some text. I get "This website content is copyrighted." How did he do that?

Javascript most likely. Scripting tactics can get very strong-armed. Disable javascript in Firefox (or Safari) to see if it helps.

It's not possible for a website to influence copy and paste in another application. And this one doesn't.

I don't know why copy & paste doesn't work for you any more. Try rebooting.

The site isn't exactly messing up other applications' copy and paste functions. What it's doing is repeatedly copying that text to the clipboard very quickly, so anything you copy gets replaced before you can paste it. It's a pretty lousy thing to do.

Javascript... use no script in Firefox to avoid it.

I didn't know JavaScript had access to the clipboard.

I've ran into sites that required me to enter email address twice. It wouldn't let me cut & paste.

It kindasorta does, but in a very browser-dependent manner. On this particular page, it's being done by Flash. Disabling Javascript stops it because the Flash object is being created through Javascript.

It seems as if Flash 10 doesn't allow this behavior.
