OK so is there any way to keep my MobileMe Galleries automatically synced up to my Albums? The way I make a Mobile Me Gallery now is to pick which album I want posted, then click the MobileMe button, and it basically makes a copy of that album and posts it on my .mac space. But when I want to add new pictures to the albums, I have to add the pics to the albums, and then I also have to add them to the mobileme galleries (in iphoto). They don't automatically say in sync. Is there a way I can MAKE them stay in sync?

I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean when you add a picture to a me.com gallery on the web site, it should be added to iPhoto? The syncing with galleries can't work that way because there's no way of knowing what computer on the Internet has the iPhoto application and the pictures that were used to create the gallery. Basically, iPhoto doesn't register with the cloud, AFAIK.

Nonono you got it all wrong.

OK so lets say I have an album called "Car Pictures" in my iPhoto. I want to post it on my mobileme so I click on the album then click on the mobileme button. That creates a mobileme album called "Car Pictures". Both appear in the source list column in iPhoto.

Fast foward a week

Ok so now I took 2 new pictures of my car. So I add them to the Car Pictures album in iPhoto. But they don't sync to the mobileme album. I still have to ALSO add the new pictures to the mobileme Car Pictures album, in iPhoto, for the new pics to be processed and uploaded. Thats what I want to eliminate. I want to be able to add photos to one album and have them be on my iphoto and on my mobileme space.

Get it?

Why have two albums of the same thing? You don't need the regular "Car Pictures" album because you already have the MobileMe "Car Pictures" album. Just put the new pictures in the MobileMe Gallery album and it will publish and update.

iPhoto doesn't let you make a mobile me album from scratch. So i have to make a normal album, make a mobile me album out of the regular album, then delete the regular album and only update the mobileme album?

Sure it does. File menu -> New album. Select MobileMe. Or just click '+' in the lower-left corner and select MobileMe.

I don't like the idea of having the mobileme album be the only album. I feel like thats going to cause problems or something

First of all, there's something wrong with your iPhoto or MobileMe installation. That shouldn't be grayed out. There's a new iPhoto update. I recommend you try installing it.

Second, why would it be an issue? A MobileMe gallery album is just like any other album. It's what I use and I've had no problems.

The problem with that is that the Mobile Me galleries don't sync with iPhones or iPods. Any way around that?

Yeah thats the thing, mobleme galleries aren't real albums. If I could just set a mobileme gallery to automatically stay synced to the album it was created from, that would be great. Also the mobile me option is still greyed out when making a new album. The only way to make it not grayed out is to click on an album first, so you are making a gallery that is a copy of an album.

You don't have to select a whole album to create a MobileMe gallery, just the photos you want to put in the gallery. How is it not a real album? It behaves exactly the same!

But it doesn't behave exactly the same. Create a Mobile Me gallery and then go to iTunes and try to sync it with an iPod: you can't do it by any means I've found. If you want photos on an iPod or iPhone, you need "regular" albums or events...which don't appear to be able to be synced two ways, sadly.

Oh, you kids and your portable gadgets (that I currently can't afford)!

You're right:

You can access through Safari on the Touch or iPhone, but I'm guessing that's not what you want.

No way around it i'm afraid... the same applies for Aperture too!!

Add more pics to album>>>drag and drop to mobile me album>>>sync!!!

This works better for me as more often than not i don't want the entire contents of an album to be uploaded into the mobile me album!
