hi. so i just put up my first website using iweb. all went great... super easy. since i have my own domain, i configured mobile me to use it. but i have two annoying problems:

1) iweb makes you create a "site name" when you start making a new website (let's say it's "mysite"). when i publish the site to my domain, the urls are: www.mydomain.com/mysite/page.htm. I want the url to be: www.mydomain.com/page.htm.

is there a way to make it so iweb does not publish files using the name of the site (which is really irrelevant considering iweb uses it to simply differentiate between sites when using that app only)?

2) maybe this is a registrar issue, but i can only get "www.mydomain.com" to resolve, not "mydomain.com". register.com is my registrar, and i tried to set a cname for @mydomain.com but it wouldn't let me. any ideas?

thanks!

so i discovered the reason iweb does this. it drops your index file into the root directory on mobile me (area for web sites on idisk) and then a folder containing a duplicate index file along with all other site files/folders. the folder has the same name as the site name you create in iweb. therefore, if you set your cname record on your hosting provider to be 'web.me.com/account_name/' instead of 'web.me.com', then your web site's urls will just be www.mydomain.com/webpage.html instead of www.mydomain.com/iweb_site_name/webpage.html.

the alternative is to upload all the site files/folder to the root directory on mobile me, but that kills automation of the 'publish' feature (bad if you forget to do things that way every time).

damn you register.com.

now for the bad/lame news.... register.com will not allow a cname record to be created using slashes

yeah, it allows for multiple websites, though it should be a toggle-able feature.
