There are no trial downloads of Mac Office. You may want to try NeoOffice instead.

Neo Office
There's a couple of threads already about the difference, take a look at them. Suffice to say that NeoOffice is been a mac/OSX specific application from the beginning while OO has not. People tend to be loyal to folks who were/are loyal to the platform.

As for main differences I don't think there are too many. I tried both and found that I like NeoOffice more.

Not for 2008, but there is a trial for 2004:

(I just tried the link and the download works for me)

Yep, the trial is only for 30 days from the moment you launch it. Also, I believe printing is disabled as well. The only way to keep it is to buy a copy of Office; there's no way to convert the trial to the full version AFAIK.

There is no legal way to get it for free unless you pay for it...if that's what you are asking. What you have is a trial version of the program.

If you want a free program then as others have suggested you should try NeoOffice or OpenOffice. To sum up the difference between the two quickly, OpenOffice is a program that is similar to Microsoft Office suites and can be used on both PCs and Macs. NeoOffice is a Mac only version of OpenOffice which has some benefits of being native to Macs.

I have both NeoOffice and OpenOffice and for me NeoOffice preforms better but it maybe different for you. It's best to try both since they are both free and see which one you like better. FWIW I also have Office X installed and still prefer to use NeoOffice, but to be fair I have not used the newest Office program.

Both NeoOffice and OpenOffice can open and read most Office files so you are not stuck if someone sends you an Office file.

There is another free word processor for OSX. It's called Bean. You'll see an option to create a Bean document in the Services menu under many application main menus - you know, the first Bold one.
