I searched this forum and the web and I haven't been able to find a solution to a problem that I'm having, so I'm hoping that someone here can be of some help.

For instant messaging I use Adium 1.3 on OS X 10.5.5. Recently I've been having issues connection to the AIM service. When attempting to sign on Adium seems to be unable to establish a connection. I get the little spinning wheel on the Adium icon, which is usually followed by an error message saying, "You have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently... blah blah blah". The funny part is, I haven't been signing on and off too frequently... I get this message after attempting to sign on for the first time of the day, or for several hours.

Any idea what could be causing this? I've tried other IM clients on both Windows and OS X, and even on different computers, and I don't get this message.

Look in your home folder /Library/Caches and delete the Adium folder. See if that helps.

There's no Adium folder in the location. Is that a problem?

~/Library/Caches, not the one that's on the root level of the hard drive.

That did it. Had a bit of a brain fart.
