After the last Safari update, os x 10.4.11 PPC, Safari is not responding after viewing 2 or 3 different web pages. You must forced quit the app to get out. Same thing on a Acer with XP sp3. Removed safari completely with cleanapp. and reinstalled safari 3.2.1 runs ok for an hour or so and then I got the same problem. No problems whatsoever with Camino or Firefox. Anyone?

I've had similar freezes with Safari lately. Often, Safari would recover after like 10-15 sec.
It's really annoying/ I think the last update borked something.

Yeah, Safari always freezes for about 10 seconds on launch. Extremely annoying.

I am having the exact same problem with Safari on my G4 and same version of OSX. Problem wasn't noticed until today after being gone for a couple of weeks. Something must have gotten hosed by an update somewhere.

And before someone suggests to clean out all Safari extensions and Input Managers: I've tried that, that was NOT the problem.

Fwiw, did you restart your computer after "cleaning out" your extensions and Input Managers - they are still running in the background until you do so.
Personally, I would delete the history and cache, including the web icons cache as the first or next port of call in your troubleshooting. Quit Safari and do it manually in the Finder. The other potential source of the problem is that the Flash plug-in was updated in the last Security update for OS X, so it could be related to the issue.

Yes, I did. No dice.

I didn't check the Flash plugin. Gotta do that.

Hmmm, same problem with Safari 3.2.1. not responding, on Mac running 10.4.11 led me here. It used to work just fine, and since it's been like this for a couple of months, looking at others' posts, I also suspect it's a recent "update" download from Mac that has triggered it off. Not being convinced about the efficacy of wiping and reloading, I'll wait to see if anyone comes up with a definite solution.

It's driving me clinically insane too: esp. as it seems intermittent.
