I am wanting to know how to make video which i can upload on to Youtube on the Apple iMac. I used to use Windows Movie Maker on my laptop with Vista, but now I can't figure out how to do it on the iMac.

I want to add a picture then a music song running over that.

Thanks

Edit: To make it easier, this is what I want to accomplish:

In Windows Movie Maker, you could add a picture, then you could add a song over that. Then the picture will show for the same duration of the song. Then you can publish this movie and it would save to your computer.

Well this is what I would like to do now, but I am struggling how to do it, so if anyone could help me, I would be so grateful

Welcome to our forums!

Use iMovie to do what you want to do and so much more. iMovie '08 includes built-in uploading to YouTube (though most, including myself, will say that iMovie HD (the previous version) was much better).

Thanks Steve and nice to meet you, but how would I do what I wanted to do (see in my main post) in iMovie?

also, you're on a Mac now.

The Help menu is actually aimed at helping you out getting to know software, and getting started using it. It does not expect you to be an engineer. It does not tell you only things you've already tried five times (and you wouldn't have found the damn help file otherwise, since you wouldn't have known what to look for). It won't treat you like a five-year-old.

I'm not kidding: Use the Help menu - it's good.
