Can someone recommend an application (other than iMovie) that will allow me to take numerous video clips and combine them all into a single video file, AND will automatically create a chapter markers in the combined video file that correspond to the the start/end points of each individual video clip (thereby allowing me to skip chapters on my single movie file instead of having a couple dozen individual video clips and switching between them by closing one, opening the next...closing, opening...closing, opening (I'd rather hit the skip chapter button and have everything nice and tidy in a single file)

Any suggestions on an app that would help me accomplish this task?

Thanks!

Umm...iMovie?

What's wrong with using iMovie to do this?

Don't know if it will chapter mark automatically (you can do it manually relatively painlessly), but Final Cut Express would do all that!

As for joining if all the file types are the same QT will do it. As for chapter marks I'm not sure myself.

iMovie '08 doesn't do chapter markers, and iMovie '09 isn't out yet.

You can create chapter markers with QuickTime Pro, but it's kind of a pain.

(note that step 10 contains a mistake – you have to choose the chapter track from the selected video track not the text track)

Who uses iMovie '08? Use the last best version: iMovie 6 HD which does chapter markers.

iMovie 6 HD reencodes the video when you export it, which is stupid if all you want to do is join them and add chapter markers.

Yeah, but it has infinitely less "suck" than iMovie '08.
