Quite by accident, I noticed today, is that for some reason under OSX 10.5.6 every time you send a new message in Apple Mail, it spawns a zombie process called AddressBookSync. It only started happening for me in the past day or so -- and I've not done anything to change my system.

ps -awx | grep "(AddressBookSync)"

flint:~ rick$ ps -awx | grep "(AddressBookSync)"
433 ?? 0:00.00 (AddressBookSync)
438 ?? 0:00.00 (AddressBookSync)
....etc, etc, etc. I had 19 of these things running a little while ago.

Apple boards have some mention of it, but the only fix is to quit Mail regularly (moreso on 'heavy mailing days') otherwise you may peg your CPU, according to some reports. No other fix is available -- and no, I am not using any Mobile Me, Dot Mac, LDAP, or Sync services.

WTF APPLE.

I swear on the software quality front MS is looking more competent than Apple these days.

Somebody please talk me down from moving back to Entourage.
