I am drowning under a sea of paper, and need help! Looked a bit at Neat Receipts and have some questions of anybody who has used this program/setup.

1. Are receipts that are scanned in able to be manipulated -- in other words, do I need to organize by date before I scan, ir can the software do that for me?

2. The website says something about importing to Quicken. Can someone give some details about this? I unse direct connect to download from my bank, therefore the items are already in Quicken. Is there any advantage to also importing from Neat Receipts? Just thinking that somehow it may show in the comment space what the purchase was for?

3. Any comments on the reporting functions? What can I do with it?

I'm sure I'll have more questions before I purchase, but this should get me started! Any and all comments are greatly appreciated!
Mary

never heard of the company.

Most businesses, like banks, credit card companies etc offer a paper free statement now. I only hang onto receipts until the warranty expires and even then its for only expensive stuff. The day to day receipts, like groceries go into the barrel when I'm done with them.

I too was interested in one of these devices to eliminate paper, but I can't see paying over $50 for the scanner. I'll just use my regular scanner for the same purpose.

I looked into that but was a bit expensive. I have Quicken and do direct download of statement information via web connect for my financial institutions. I toss receipts that aren't income tax or warranty related, and then scan the rest with my desktop scanner. I save those as a pdf along with the eStatements for easy retrieval. It's my system. If I want details I add them to Quicken myself in the split.

I would however like to go totally paperless but haven't been able to figure out what the IRS requirements are. I'm working on that.

Sounds like a pretty good system, 2Bor.

I travel 2-4 times a month every single month and have so many receipts that they are hard to keep track of. I did buy this package and it has worked really well. True, it is not the cheapest but it does do the job and I have never had any problems with it. My trips are usually 2000-3000 a week so it is important that I get reimbursed and, so far, this product has not failed me and creates perfectly readable pdfs of all receipts.
